Food Combinations to Avoid as per Ayurveda - Sukhayu Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a traditional system of natural medicine that has been used for more than 3,000 years. The foundation of the theory is the idea that the five elements—earth, water, fire, air, and ether—make up the human body. The body is healthy and operating at its peak when these factors are in harmony. However, a disease develops when one or more of the ingredients are out of balance. A balanced diet may assist in rebalancing the body and returning it to equilibrium. If one wants to maintain or regain their health using this holistic approach of wellness, it is highly helpful to know what foods to avoid while using Ayurvedic medicines.

1. Avoid foods that are heavy and hard to digest

It is believed that fatty, difficult-to-digest meals cause the body to produce toxins that might cause bloating. Meats, cheeses, dairy products, fried meals, baked goods, processed foods, coffee beverages with whipped cream, sugar, or other sweeteners, and molasses/sugar cane (particularly black tea) are examples of foods that are heavy and difficult to digest. It is advisable to stay away from these meals when following Ayurveda and choose instead for lighter fare such fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes.

2. Avoid spicy, hot, or sour foods

Foods that are hot, spicy, and sour are known to irritate the stomach and may result in issues like heartburn, acid reflux, and indigestion. When using Ayurveda, it is advisable to stay away from these foods since they might worsen the body's imbalance and produce digestive issues. When dining out with friends or at special occasions at the neighbourhood restaurant, these meals are sometimes acceptable in moderation. When attempting to create equilibrium in the body, it is advisable to stay away from them.

3. Avoid dairy products because they can cause mucus production in the body

Dairy products are known to increase the body's production of mucus, which is undesirable while attempting to keep things in balance. Mucus may clog the sinuses and lungs and serve as a haven for germs and viruses. When attempting to rebalance the body, Ayurveda advises against consuming dairy items such as milk, cheese, yoghurt, and other dairy products. It is important to note that although some individuals do not have a problem with dairy and may include it in their diets without any issues, it is preferable to avoid it for those who do.

4. Avoid processed food because it lacks nutrition and may contain chemicals that could lead to inflammation

Because they are deficient in nutrients and often include additives that might promote inflammation, processed foods are not recommended while using Ayurveda. The body uses inflammation to attempt to defend itself from dangerous chemicals, but if it persists for a long time, it may destroy the tissues and organs of the body. When striving to attain equilibrium in the body, it is recommended to stay away from processed meals and choose full, unprocessed foods instead.

5. Avoid caffeine because it can be dehydrating and can aggravate the nervous system

A stimulant, caffeine may dehydrate users and exacerbate their neurological systems. Caffeine should be avoided while taking Ayurveda since it may make people anxious, agitated, and sleepless. Choose caffeine-free teas instead, such as black or green tea. Because they are relaxing to the body and soul, these drinks are often recommended while using Ayurveda. It may interfere with your sleep cycle and cause liver damage.

Last Words

Several dietary categories should be avoided while using Ayurveda, in conclusion. Foods that are heavy and difficult to digest, meals that are hot, sour, and spicy, dairy products, processed foods, and caffeine are among these foods. It is simpler to create equilibrium in the body and regain health and well-being by eliminating certain foods. It is thus advised to stay away from the items on the list while attempting to create balance if you practise Ayurveda or are interested in this system.
